Who we are

Yacht Sentinel Limited is the controller responsible for personal information collected through this website and for its own enquiries, customer administration and marketing. TowPro is operated by Yacht Sentinel Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 03531968. Registered office: 167 Great Portland Street, London, W1W 5PF, United Kingdom. This notice explains how personal information is handled in connection with towpro.tech, enquiries and TowPro services, including TowPro Cloud at fleet.towpro.tech. It is a privacy notice, not consent to every use of your information. Where consent is required, it must be obtained separately.

Information we handle

When you contact us, request a demonstration or obtain support, we may receive your name, business contact details, company or vessel, equipment details and the information you choose to send. Orders and subscriptions may also involve billing, account and transaction records. Please do not include passwords or unnecessary personal information in an enquiry.

The website and its hosting services process technical information needed to deliver and secure the site, such as IP addresses, browser and device information, requests and security logs. Squarespace hosts this website. Images, video and player resources may load from Squarespace and jsDelivr, whose servers receive the technical information required to deliver those resources.

Fleet monitoring and location information

Depending on the equipment and configuration, TowPro services may handle asset identifiers, positions, timestamps, movement, status, alerts and supported vessel-system data. Information about an asset may be personal information when it can be linked to an identifiable crew member, guest or other person. Account access also determines which users can see fleet information.

Where a yacht owner or operator determines the purposes of monitoring, that organisation is responsible for informing affected people and establishing a lawful basis for its use. The applicable service and data-processing agreements determine the parties' responsibilities. Questions about monitoring carried out by a yacht operator should be directed to that operator; you may also contact TowPro for assistance.

Why we use information

We use relevant information to respond to enquiries, arrange demonstrations, fulfil orders, provide and support services, manage accounts and subscriptions, communicate about service changes, maintain security and comply with legal obligations.

For our own processing, the legal basis depends on the purpose: taking steps at your request before a contract or performing a contract with you; complying with legal obligations; our legitimate interests in handling business enquiries, supporting customers and securing our services; or consent where required. A yacht operator's basis for monitoring is separate from TowPro's basis for handling its own business records.

You can object to direct marketing at any time. Use an unsubscribe link where provided or email sales@towpro.tech. Withdrawing marketing consent does not prevent necessary service communications. Consent, where used, can be withdrawn without affecting the lawfulness of earlier processing.

Sharing and international processing

Relevant information may be shared with providers supporting website hosting, communications, payment processing, cloud services, technical support and installation. A request for a local installer may require sharing your contact and installation requirements with the relevant partner. Payment providers handle payment-card information under their own notices; do not send card details by email.

We may disclose information when required by law or when necessary to protect legal rights, investigate misuse or respond to a lawful request. A business transfer may involve the transfer of relevant customer records, subject to applicable law.

Providers may process information outside your country. Where data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the applicable safeguards must be in place. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your service.

How long information is kept

Retention depends on the purpose and the applicable service agreement. Relevant factors include whether an enquiry or support issue remains open, the duration of the customer relationship, contractual requirements, statutory record-keeping duties and the need to establish or defend legal claims. Monitoring-data retention depends on the service and configuration. Contact us for the retention arrangements applicable to your account. Information should be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required.

Your rights and complaints

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal information, and object to processing. These rights are not absolute and depend on the circumstances. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Providing information for an enquiry is voluntary, but without the details needed to answer or deliver a service we may be unable to help.

Contact sales@towpro.tech to exercise your rights. You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or to the competent data protection authority where you live or work. You do not have to contact us before doing so.

Website analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand how visitors find and use towpro.tech and to measure interactions with the website, such as visits to the demonstration page and form interactions. Measurement data may include pages viewed, referral information, browser and device information, approximate location and online identifiers. We use this information to assess website performance and our marketing activity.

Our Squarespace cookie controls communicate your cookie choices to Google. Optional analytics cookies are used only when you consent. You can accept, refuse or change your choice through Cookie Preferences on the website. Cookies, security and other websites

Essential technologies support website operation. Where optional cookies require consent, you can choose whether to accept them through the available cookie controls. Browser settings can also restrict cookies, although this may affect site functions.

Links to external websites and services lead to organisations with their own privacy practices. Our commercial website is not directed at children; contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information directly to us.
